Admittedly this is a touchy category to create–hopefully we all know that children of Mixed Heritage look like the full spectrum of human phenotype. In general, this site prefers to list and review books with stories that include the parents or declare that the protagonist’s family structure falls into one of our categories. However we do come across books that, while there is no clear statement of the protagonist’s racial/ethnic heritage, the illustration of the protagonist portrays a child who, like many mixed heritage children, upon sight could easily fall into general expectations of mixed racial/ethnic heritage phenotype or are not easily categorizable by phenotype into a racial/ethnic category . Those books are listed, and sometimes reviewed here.
